Exploring the potential opportunities in researching the lives of people of colour in the nineteenth century archiveAbout this Event
This event, in collaboration with the Centre for Inclusive Humanities at the University of Roehampton, London, seeks to explore the potential opportunities in researching the lives of people of colour in the nineteenth century archive:
- What stories can we tell?
- What sources are available to us?
- Where are the gaps and omissions in the archive and what can we do to read against them?
- What can we learn from scholars working in other periods of British history?
- Are there sources in languages other than English?
We will bring together researchers working in this area to present their work and engage in broader discussion.
This event will take place onsite at London Metropolitan Archives. A sandwich lunch will be provided.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Claire Hynes, University of East Anglia
