Creative nonfiction is a great tool for unearthing our inner voice. As we tap into memories and the elements that make us who we are, we allow our buried stories to surface in a way that is uniquely our own. In this three-session workshop, students will use texts and writing exercises to discover who they are, what they think, and how to capture their voice on the page. Open to writers of all skill levels, 18+.
Cary Clack was born and raised in San Antonio and graduated from St. Mary’s University with a B.A. in Political Science. In 1995, he became the first Black metro columnist in San Antonio Express-News history and the paper’s first Black Editorial Board member. Two collections of his columns, Clowns and Rats Scare Me and More Finish Lines to Cross, were published by Trinity University Press in 2009 and 2024 respectively.
