About this Event
As part of The ReDress Hub, 'A Stitch in Time Series', this free 1-1.5hr workshop will take you through the basics of understanding how to use a sewing machine so you are prepared to get started at other ReDress Hub sewing workshops.
We will show you:
- The main features/parts of a sewing machine
- How to wind thread onto a bobbin
- How to thread the machine
- How to use the machine pedal
- Using straight stitch and zig zag stitch
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is suitable for beginners of any age over 12yo. Children 12 or younger must be supported by an adult.

What do I bring?
All materials are supplied for this workshop at The ReDress Hub however if you have your own sewing machine you'd like to know how to use, please feel free to bring this along, with its instruction manual. If you don't have one, many are downloadable by doing an internet search.
Please note: we have some people bring in very old sewing machines and while we will try our best to get you working on these old machines, we are not sewing machine experts so we can't make any promises!

We're excited to be able to run our workshops face-to-face in our beautifully designed space.
The ReDress Hub is located at:
Shop 6&7, Quadrant Plaza, 94 York St, Launceston, Tasmania.
You can find us just behind Toyworld :)
Super handy access to parking in the Care CarPark next door, with great cafes close by to fuel you up for all your workshop needs.

What if I don't feel well?
If you have been or could have been exposed to COVID19 through travel or a close contact, please consider your attendance and or wearing a mask at the event.
If you have any symptoms and don't feel well please don't attend your workshop and get in touch with us for more details.
