About this Event
Brooke LaLone, LMFT is a local therapist who provides compassionate Neurodiversity Affirming care to many adults who have received a late adult diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergent conditions. Brooke also specializes in working with eating disorders and perinatal mental health and takes into account how neurodivergent conditions impact these specialty areas.
The purpose of this training is to provide in depth education and awareness of neurodiversity, and the importance of being more aware of neurodivergent conditions in therapeutic and medical settings. This training will benefit everyone both personally and professionally by covering the pillars of neurodiversity affirming care, diagnostic criterias, challenging stigmas, and provide further professional skills.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn the history of neurodiversity and the importance of the neurodiversity movement.
- Understand various diagnoses of ADHD and Autism, and why these have increased in rates in recent years.
- Understand the stigmas and stereotypes of neurodivergent conditions, and begin to have discussions to challenge these.
- Begin to learn about different therapeutic and communication skills to better serve neurodivergent clients.
Tree of Hope Counseling, LCSW, PLLC, is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0322.
** This course is approved to provide continuing education hours for SW and LMHCs.**
Fee is $100 for 3.5 contact hours.
