Workshop 1 of 4: Understanding Your Neurodivergence
This is the 1st workshop in a series of 4 (you don't have to attend all 4 though, you can pick and chose which ones interest you most if you prefer).
Join our friendly, easy-to-follow and interactive 2.5 hour workshop designed especially for neurodivergent adults.
You will hear from and connect with others with lived-experiences.
This workshop is for neurodivergent adults who are living in Wokingham, who:
- are exploring whether they may be neurodivergent
- are pre-diagnosis or considering assessment
- have received a recent diagnosis and want to understand themselves better
- have been diagnosed for a while but feel they’re still “making sense of it all”
- are family members or carers who want to improve their understanding & support
This is a neuro-affirming space, focused on lived experience rather than labels, deficits, or “fixing”.
Together, we’ll gently explore what neurodivergence can look like in real life, including how traits can overlap, co-occur, or be missed — especially for adults, women, people who mask, and those from different cultural backgrounds.
There will be plenty of opportunity to talk, ask questions, share experiences (if you're comfortable) and join in with activity-based learning (if you want to), or you can simply listen! You are welcome to participate in the way that feels right for you.
What we’ll cover:
- An overview of some neurodivergent conditions (and how they can occur together)
- How traits can overlap
- Pre-diagnosis, self-identification, and formal diagnosis (all valid)
- Diagnosis routes, options, and common barriers
- Strengths, challenges, and understanding your own profile
- Reframing unhelpful beliefs (e.g. “I’m not lazy, I’m overloaded”)
- Reducing shame and rewriting the “something is wrong with me” narrative
- An introduction to masking, self-advocacy, and being more authentically you
You’ll leave with greater understanding, language, and reassurance, and the sense that you are not alone in your experiences.
We don’t claim to have all the answers. This is a shared learning space, grounded in lived experience, where we explore, reflect, and learn together.
This workshop is led by trainers with lived and professional experience of neurodivergence, who are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and non-judgemental spaces.
Our sessions are practical, relatable, and grounded in real-world understanding — not clinical.
Whether this is the very start of your journey, or a step along the way, you are welcome here.
Book your place and come as you are. You don’t need to have it all figured out.
This workshop is FREE for neurodivergent adults living or working in Wokingham (family members or carers who want to improve their understanding & support of a neurodivergent adult are also welcome to attend).
(Those living outside of Wokigham Borough are able to purchase an affordable ticket instead, but there are limited numbers).
