Speaker: Dr Hoang Hue Anh, Director of the Center for Chinese Studies, Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences
Abstract: This talk, by one of Vietnam’s leading scholars of Chinese politics, development, and foreign policy, happens as the National People’s Congress, meets in Beijing for one of the most important events in the Chinese political cycle. That meeting will, among other things, reveal the long-awaited 15th Five-Year Plan. At this critical point, Dr Hue Anh’s talk will draw on her observations to review the past year in Chinese political, personnel, and economic developments, and share her analysis on what to look out for in the year to come.
Please note: this talk, which is hosted by the Scottish Centre for China Research and the Confucius Institute as part of a series of events to celebrate the latter’s 15th Anniversary, will be given in Chinese.
Speaker Bio: Dr Hue Anh earned her PhD in International Politics from Renmin University of China. She spent 17 years living and teaching in Beijing, China, including 7 years as a foreign expert at Beijing Foreign Studies University. She has extensive experience in researching, and has published widely on, China’s development model, domestic politics, and foreign policy.
