De Stadsjutters is happy to invite you to "Underground Up", part of the free U? Festival.Self-run artist collective de Stadsjutters will submerge you in the underground pool of creativity where we stem from: the Utrecht squatting and alternative scene.
Together with Modulation, Rave for the Rafelranden, and the Utrecht squatting info hour we’ll create a stage for underground artists–promoting and celebrating free spaces, DIY cultures, solidarity, noise, trash and radical resistance.

Modulation is Utrecht's own low-threshold live performance and concert evening around modular synthesisers and other hardware electronic instruments. This year Modulation returns to the U? festival with an interactive performance installation where you will shape and join the sonic soundscape we create together: the Music Machine. Also, Veerle Pennock, a creative electronics builder, living beep machine and live performer with modular synth and hardware live-set, will performing under the name Elektortek.
Rave voor de Rafelranden organises festive demonstrations to fight for more free spaces and non commercial culture in Utrecht. They highlight the importance of places that are created and shaped by a community from the bottom up, such as squats, alternative living communities and autonomous creative spaces. These places help independent art and culture thrive. Rave for the Rafelranden will present those local communities using photographs, film and more, taking you on a journey through the Utrecht underground from past to present.
The Utrecht squatting info hour (kraakspreekuur) offers an alternative to the housing crisis by providing you with everything you ever wanted to know about squatting. Support your local squatting scene by getting a DIY screen print on whatever piece of clothing you decide to bring to the event.
