Dive into a magical cake decorating experience inspired by the beauty of the ocean! In this fun and beginner-friendly class, you'll learn how to create a stunning mini, two-tiered, mermaid themed cake from start to finish.
Join Celebrity Pastry Chef Dawn from Ravy Cakes, LLC, a competitor on the Food Network’s Wedding Cake Championship, for a fun cake decorating class!
In this class, you will learn the basics of decorating a cake. Dawn will show you how to smooth buttercream frosting, create fun textured designs, and stack a two-tier cake. You’ll also learn how to make playful under-the-sea decorations.
Students will decorate their cakes with mermaid colors, ocean textures, and beautiful edible accents like seashells, shimmering details, and other sea-inspired decorations.
This hands-on class is perfect for beginners who want to build confidence while creating a show-stopping cake. By the end of the class, you'll leave with your very own mermaid masterpiece, beautifully packaged and ready to share (or keep all to yourself!).

Meet Your Instructor:
Dawn Alston of Ravy Cakes, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, grew up in Northern Virginia where she started baking at the age of six. Dawn holds an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and has competed in many local baking events and in 2018 she competed on Food Network’s Wedding Cake Championship. All The Details:
- Age Level: 13+
- Skill Level: Beginner
- All supplies and tools are provided for use during the workshop
- This workshop requires a minimum of 2 students and there is a maxiumum of 6. In the event of insufficient enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
- The workshop will run approximately 3 hours. Please note that the workshop is hands-on and may run over or under schedule.
Cancellation Policy:
Changes and cancellations...we know life happens so we try our best to be flexible while being fair to our instructors who purchase supplies and bake for each student. Full refunds or credits are available for cancellations made at least 5 days prior to the class. If you need to cancel after 5 days but at least 48 hours in advance, we can offer you a credit for a future class. We cannot offer any credits for cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled class.
