TVCCA is kicking off its 60th Anniversary Celebration in 2025 with a screening of UnCharitable, the world’s first feature-length documentary that examines our most basic ideas about giving. The screening will be held at the Garde Arts Center in New London on Thursday, February 6th, at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $6.00 per person, though donations to support the event and TVCCA are welcomed and appreciated, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Here's a quick overview of the film:
What if everything we’ve been taught about charity is wrong? What if our beliefs are undermining the causes we love? UnCharitable re-shuffles old notions about saints and sinners, heroes and heretics, good and greed. It follows the stories of three record-breaking entrepreneurial charitable initiatives that were mercilessly attacked by the media, ultimately devastating the very people the initiatives were helping. It features activist and entrepreneur Dan Pallotta, whose TED Talk on charity was voted the most persuasive TED talk of all time by the TED community. Directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal, Uncharitable presents a radical idea: give nonprofits the same economic freedoms as businesses, allowing them to drive world-changing solutions. Featuring Edward Norton, Darren Walker, and other philanthropic leaders, the film weaves poignant stories into a hopeful, emotional journey that reimagines a world that works for all.
