The Unbirthday Tea is an elevated low tea experience celebrating US — and absolutely nothing else. No birthday required. No milestone necessary. Just US, an afternoon in full bloom, and a table set with intention.
We're taking the best of two magical worlds — the whimsy of Wonderland and the warmth of Tiana's Palace — and dressing them in Harlem Renaissance elegance. Think mismatched china stacked in towers, fuchsia peonies spilling from vintage teapots, stopped clocks that say it's always tea time, and a three-tier spread that means business.
This is your invitation to fall in.
✿ WHAT TO EXPECT
The Table A full three-tier low tea spread — savory bites, warm scones, and sweets that match the theme. Shugg & Glow Fruit Therapy will also be building charcuterie table.
The Parlor Every table is set with parlor games — Spades, chess, dominoes, Parlour Uno, and our custom Who Is She? trivia cards featuring Black women trailblazers from NC, SC, and GA. Play all afternoon. A Parlor Champion will be crowned before you leave.
The Karaoke Moment KJ Eddie Spagetti takes the mic mid-afternoon for a joyful, can't-sit-still karaoke set. Motown, classic R&B, and whatever the room demands. Participation is encouraged. Dignity is optional.
The Wisdom Circle A brief moment where a few guests share one sentence of wisdom while holding a bloom from the centerpiece. No speeches. Just a line. Every great song has a bridge. What's yours?
The Hatter's Parade All hat-wearing guests rise for the Hat Parade. Prizes awarded for Most Magnificent, Most Garden, and Most Wonderland. The Parlor Champion is crowned. Playing cards are held up like court heralds. It's exactly as good as it sounds.
The Farewell Every guest leaves with a gift bag and a single fresh bloom. The garden's final gift.
👒 DRESS CODE
Tea garden attire — vintage, modern, your choice. As long as it makes you feel fancy! Florals are not just acceptable, they are essentially required. This is the afternoon to wear the hat that's been waiting in your closet. Wide-brim, fascinator, pillbox, sculptural, floral-crowned — all welcome and celebrated. Hat prizes are awarded.
Palette inspiration: wisteria purple, fuchsia, gold, garden green, blush cream. Kente accents in purple and gold are a whole moment. White gloves are divine.
What we're not wearing: casual, distressed, or anything that doesn't know it's going somewhere magnificent.
