Le Festival de Jazz de North Hatley est heureux d'inviter le public à un moment musical plein de chaleur et d'élégance : Un après-midi Jazz avec l'Orchestre Jazz de Sherbrooke, le dimanche 24 mai à 15 h, à la magnifique Salle Bandeen de l'Université Bishop's.
Connu pour célébrer et partager un jazz exceptionnel dans le cadre riverain de North Hatley et des communautés avoisinantes, le Festival va au-delà de ses quatre jours annuels en août : tout au long de l'année, bénévoles et artistes unissent leurs talents pour faire vivre cette musique que nous aimons. Cet après-midi en est la belle expression.
Pour l'occasion, le Festival est fier d'accueillir l'Orchestre Jazz de Sherbrooke comme invité d'honneur, sous la direction du chef Robert-Étienne Siméon. Un ensemble dont le son riche et dynamique promet une expérience musicale saisissante.
Ce souffle orchestral sera magnifié par deux voix d'exception. Le chanteur Michael Gearey s'approprie le répertoire de Michael Bublé avec une aisance et une chaleur communicatives, tandis que la chanteuse Sonia Patenaude rend hommage à la grande Ella Fitzgerald avec une sensibilité et un éclat tout à fait remarquables. Ensemble, orchestre et chanteurs promettent un dialogue musical d'une rare générosité.
Le Festival profitera aussi de l'occasion pour faire monter sur scène son propre trio fondateur, le Trio Auburn, composé de Jon Gearey à la guitare, Carlos Maldonado Cisneros à la contrebasse et Eric Harding au piano — un clin d'œil aux racines du festival et à l'amour profond de la musique jazz qui l'a fait naître.
Un après-midi pour se laisser porter par le swing et les grands classiques, dans l'un des plus beaux espaces de la région — accessible à tous, dans l'esprit qui anime le Festival depuis ses tout débuts.
The North Hatley Jazz Festival is proud to present a special afternoon of musical elegance and warmth: A Jazz Afternoon with the Sherbrooke Jazz Orchestra. This exceptional performance will take place Sunday, May 24, at 3 p.m. in the stunning acoustics of Bishop’s University’s Bandeen Hall.
While the Festival is best known for its signature four-day event every August, its mission to bring world-class jazz to our lakeside community continues year-round. This concert is a testament to the passion of the volunteers and artists who work tirelessly to keep the rhythm of North Hatley alive through every season.
The Festival is honored to feature the Sherbrooke Jazz Orchestra as this year’s guest ensemble. Under the baton of conductor Robert-Étienne Siméon, the orchestra is renowned for a rich, dynamic sound that is as powerful as it is precise. The afternoon will reach new heights with two featured vocalists. Michael Gearey brings his signature warmth and effortless charm to the Michael Bublé songbook, while Sonia Patenaude offers a breathtaking tribute to the "First Lady of Song," Ella Fitzgerald. Together with the full orchestra, they will deliver a performance defined by musicality and heart.
In a special nod to the Festival’s history, The Auburn Trio, featuring Jon Gearey on guitar, Carlos Maldonado Cisneros on double bass, and Eric Harding on piano, will also take the stage for a few select pieces, celebrating the grassroots love for jazz that started it all. Join us for an afternoon of swing and timeless classics in one of the region’s most beautiful venues. In keeping with the Festival's founding values, this event remains accessible to all
