Ready to step up your mileage and train for an ultramarathon? We're here for you! Join us on November 15th for our 2nd Ultrarunning 101 Clinic! More and more runners are taking on BIG miles, and with that comes a lot of questions. How to train? What to eat? What gear do I need? Do I need a pacer and a crew?
Tentative Schedule of Events: EVENT MC, YAK!
10:00am - Group trail run at SIUE Campus trails. Shoe demo w/Altra Running. (if you are attending from out of town, a shower is available at RunWell before the Clinic. Bring a towel).
1:00pm - Greetings and Introduction to Ultrarunning - GUEST SPEAKER JEN SCHALLER, 4X ULTRAMARATHONER, 2X LEADVILLE ATTEMPT, OWNER RUNWELL
1:15pm - Training, Pacing, Racing an Ultramarathon - GUEST SPEAKER MICHELE HARTWIG, ULTRAMARATHONER, RUNNING COACH, AND RACE DIRECTOR FOR SOME OF THE MIDWEST'S MOST BELOVED ULTRA'S, INCLUDING KETTLE MORAINE 100, HENNEPIN HUNDRED, MIDWEST STATES 100.
1:45pm - Snack break & vendor visits
2:00pm - The Mental Challenge of Ultrarunning - GUEST SPEAKER JUSTIN GALBRAITH, 94X ULTRAMARATHONER, INCLUDING MOAB 240, WESTERN STATES 100, BIGFOOT 200 AND MORE
2:30pm - Lunch (provided)
3:00pm - The Right Gear – GUEST SPEAKER YAK (DON YAKSTIS), ULTRAMARATHONER, GEAR EXPERT AND LOCAL RUNNING GURU.
