Ukrainian traditional New Year's decoration - PAVUK
Come join us on December 22 at 3PM for a fun and festive event where we will be creating PAVUK, traditional Ukrainian New Year's decorations.
It is a traditional handmade geometric straw mobile that were traditionally made during Christmas and winter. They were suspended from the ceiling by long horsehair strands and were believed to trap negative energy and bring prosperity, blessings and protection to households. These intricately woven, airy structures, and web-like forms are made from harvest straw and reflect the interconnectedness of community and the cycles of life.
Bring your creativity and learn how to make these beautiful ornaments at the Ukrainian Orthodox Hall. Let's celebrate the holiday season together in a unique and cultural way!
