About this Event

About the Tradition

The Ukrainian Christmas Spider (“Різдвяний павук”) is a centuries-old folk ornament symbolizing harmony, good fortune, and the delicate balance of the universe. Made from straw and thread, these geometric mobiles were traditionally hung in homes during winter holidays to invite prosperity and protection for the year ahead. Join us to discover this beautiful craft and create your own festive talisman.

Who We Are

This workshop is organized by TolokaLab founded by Kinotoloka, a community-driven cultural project dedicated to celebrating Ukrainian heritage through art, storytelling, and shared experiences and School of Fine Arts “Red Corner”. Our mission is to bring people together through hands-on creativity and meaningful traditions.

Special Treats from our partner:

We are grateful to our partner, Nat's Goodies Halifax, who will delight our guests with handcrafted festive cookies from master baker Natalia.

Expect a cozy atmosphere with hot beverages, holiday sweets, and warm conversations while you craft.
