The Ukrainian dance group “Namysto,” Paul Filenko — who blends tradition with modern expression through the centuries-old Ukrainian instrument, the Bandura — and Yaroslava Caracosa, known for her remarkable voice and artistry, will bring Ukrainian dance, music, and cultural heritage to life.

About the performers:
The Ukrainian dance group “Namysto” was founded in 2023 at the Ukrainian School in San Diego. The group actively supports Ukraine and performs at local community events, showcasing the strength, talent, and beauty of Ukrainian folk and modern culture. The word Namysto means beads — a traditional Ukrainian necklace symbolizing heritage and the passing of culture from generation to generation.
Paul Filenko seeks to bridge tradition and modernity by introducing the centuries-old Ukrainian instrument, the bandura, to a global audience. His performances present the instrument through a diverse range of creative projects — from immersive improvisations and uplifting renditions of ethno-pop hits to reimagined interpretations of Ukrainian folk melodies—revealing the bandura’s timeless beauty and contemporary resonance.
Yaroslava Caracosa is a beloved singer celebrated for her remarkable voice and artistry within Ukrainian communities. Her deeply expressive and dynamic performances captivate audiences and illuminate the rich emotional power of Ukrainian song.
