RegTech, Resilience and Compliance Spotlight:
The financial services sector is subject to rigorous regulatory oversight. The rapid emergence of innovative financial technologies presents a unique challenge to regulators, such as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Payment Services Regulator, who must strike a careful balance between protecting stakeholders and enabling innovation. There is an urgent need for research to support the creation of intelligent and empowered tools. For example to that can translate regulatory texts into actionable code or automatically generate compliance checklists.
Dr Clement Stross, Lead Data Scientist at Admiral Group and UKFin+ advisory board member, will be delivering a keynote talk and sharing his perspective on Regtech, Resilience and Compliance.
UKFin+ has now funded 20 research projects. At the showcase, we’ll reflect on the progress made so far and share some of the excellent work being carried out across the network. The projects span a wide range of topics aligned with the UKFin+ research agenda, including financial inclusion, ESG, AI, financial advice, and cryptocurrencies. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain insight into the work through a poster session and a series of short presentations delivered by the project teams.
There will also be a focused networking session to reflect on and discuss key themes that have emerged throughout the day. This will be designed to generate connections and collaborations between academics and industry attendees to tackle wicked problems in financial services.
Lunch and tea breaks are included free of charge to all attendees.
Up to 20 travel and subsistence bursaries of up to £200 are available for early career researchers on a first come, first served basis. Early career status is normally up to 8 years from PhD, longer to account for career breaks. Proof of early career status is not required. Please e-mail [email protected], if you would like to request an early career travel bursary.
Please note that photography and videography will be taking place throughout the day.
