About this Event

UK PACT - Community Building Workshop

Do you organise or contribute to a parent or carer network within Higher Eduction? If so please join us for a care focused hybrid event. We will celebrate our community building and generate a collective approach to co-create the future of UK Parents and Carers Together (UK PACT).

In-person attendees will enjoy the special energy that the family and care ethos of our networks brings. Of course, we will provide refreshments and lunch to ensure your are comfortable and enjoy the day!

10-12 - The day will start with some examples of existing organising that can inspire our national platform. Speakers will include:

  • Professor Sarah Jewell - University of Reading - Supporting Breastfeeding Employees in the Workplace
  • Dr Mark Gatto and Dr Ana Lopes - Parents and Carers Networks as New Labour Actors
  • Dr Joe Street - Northumbria University - Collaborating with Trade Unions
  • Alex Summer - Sunderland University - Multi-agency organising

NB: This will be hybrid with online attendees.

12-1 - We will have a networking lunch (in-person) where we can relax and enjoy making connections with other networks.

1-3 - The afternoon (in-person) will be a co-creation space to generate a plan for UK PACT for the next 3 years. We will identify actions and activities to galvanise our members and help our movement grow.

After the main event, there will be time for some informal social connection at a local cafe/bar.

Please note, travel bursaries are available to support attendees with travel costs. We will review all applications based on distance from the venue and a fair distribution of funds to maximise attendance in person.

We look forward to sharing the day with you.

Ana and Mark
