Work by guest choreographer Amirah Sackett, an internationally recognized hip-hop dancer, choreographer, and educator, serves as the finale of this repertoire concert. Sackett embodies her Muslim American identity through combining hip-hop movement and Islamic themes. Faculty choreographers Ashley Brittingham, Claire Buss, Michelle Heffner Hayes, and Marisa Plasencia present work in genres ranging from modern/contemporary to ballet to jazz to flamenco- and Cumbia-inspired movement. The Jayhawk Tap Company will also be featured. Patrons who enjoy discovering the kaleidoscope of ways the artform manifests won’t want to miss this concert!
