The East Campus Rehab Golf Classic is the area's only golf event that pairs able body golfers with players who have physical limitations.
About this Event

The East Campus Rehab Golf Classic (formally SoCal Golf Classic) is the County’s only golf tournament that pairs able body golfers with players who have limitations due to illness or physical impairment. The purpose of the event is to highlight ability, not disability, while enjoying the comradery and the challenge of being out on the golf course.

This year’s 22 Annual Golf Classic represents a milestone transition; honoring the past 21 years as Alvarado Hospital while excitedly embracing our future as a member of the UC San Diego Health Family of Hospitals

Tournament Check-In and Classic Boxed Lunch: 11:30AM

Putting Contest: 11:30-12:30PM

Shotgun Start: 1pm

Awards Social with hors d'oeuvres and refreshments following play


Mission

UC San Diego Health's East Campus Rehab Golf Classic promotes golf for Seniors and individuals who have a physical disability.

Event for the Community

PALS (Programs For Active Living and Support) are post treatment programs for the benefit of individuals with physical disabilities and senior citizens. They include, the Back Nine Clinic, SoCal Rehab Golf Club, Stroke Peer Visitor Program, Comebackers Neuro Club, the Adult Balance Club (ABC), the Aphasia Group, the Senior Fitness Class, the Book Club, the Survivor and Care Person Support Group and Art for All Program.

The Alvarado Damas de Servicio supports PALS. Monies donated will support the Alvarado Damas de Servicio. Tax ID#237210063. The 501c(3) is a non-profit, philanthropic and service organization, which has raised money to support health education and patient care projects since its founding in 1972.


East Campus Rehab Golf Classic Format

The 9-hole tournament is a four-player scramble format. A team will be comprised of at least one individual with a physical limitation. Golfers with physical impairments will have the option to play from designated forward tees.

Includes greens fee, cart, swag bag, classic boxed lunch and awards social.

Tournament Awards

Players are invited to register individually, or in teams with at least one individual with a physical limitation, vying for the team and individual awards including: Team Lowest Score, Putting Challenge, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and Hole in One.

Consent and Release of Liability for Participation in East Campus Rehab Golf Classic

Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement

Waiver: In return for being permitted to participate in the following activity or program (East Campus Rehab Golf Classic), including any associated use of the premises, facilities, staff, equipment, transportation, and services of the University, I, for myself, heirs, personal representatives, and assigns, do hereby release, waive, discharge, and promise not to sue The Regents of the University of California, its directors, officers, employees, and agents (“The University”), from liability from any and all claims, including the negligence of The University, resulting in personal injury (including death), accidents or illnesses, and property loss, in connection with my participation in the Activity and any use of University premises and facilities.

Description of Activity or Program: UC San Diego Health 22nd Annual East Campus Rehab Golf Classic

Date(s): Wednesday, December 11, 2024

Assumption of Risks: Participation in The Activity carries with it certain inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the care taken to avoid injury. The specific risks vary from one activity to another, but the risks range from 1) minor injuries such as scratches, bruises, and sprains, to 2) major injuries such as eye injury, joint or bone injuries, heart attacks, and concussions, to 3) catastrophic injuries such as paralysis and death. Indemnification and Hold Harmless: I also agree to indemnify and hold The University harmless from any and all claims, actions, suits, procedures, costs, expenses, damages and liabilities, including attorney’s fees, arising out of my involvement in The Activity, and to reimburse it for any such expenses incurred. Severability: I further agree that this Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by law, and that if any portion is held invalid the remaining portions will continue to have full legal force and effect. Governing Law and Jurisdiction: This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, and any disputes arising out of or in connection with this Agreement shall be under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the State of California.

Acknowledgment of Understanding( upon completion at check out): I have read this Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement, fully understand its terms, and understand that I am giving up substantial rights, including my right to sue. I confirm that I am signing the agreement freely and voluntarily, and intend my signature to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law.
