About this Event
Ubu Roi (King Ubu) by Alfred Jarry tells the story of the oafish, greedy Papa Ubu, spurred by his shrewish wife (Mama Ubu), who murders the King of Poland to seize the throne, leading to tyrannical rule, mass slaughter, excessive taxation, and eventual chaos, forcing the Ubus to flee Poland for France amidst rebellion and Russian invasion, all while parodying Shakespeare and satirizing power, greed, and bourgeois society.
