About this Event

Beyond the history is the mystery

Travel back in time with and discover the rich history of the neighborhood known as Black Broadway. On this fun and informative walking tour, U Street's civil war soldier will lead you on a storied journey from Ancient Egypt to Abraham Lincoln to the riots of 1968. You'll visit local statues, peek inside historic buildings, and watch the past come to life.

Marquett Milton is the historical interpreter at the African American Civil War Memorial Museum and shares stories about the United States Colored Troops daily with visitors. Marquett enjoys historical reenactments and participates in several public reenactment programs each year on the United States Colored Troops, including Fort Stevens in Washington, DC and Fort Pocahontas in Virginia.
