Hannah Arendt, triết gia Đức vĩ đại từng nhận xét: ""Cô đơn, từng là một trải nghiệm mấp mé lằn ranh chỉ xuất hiện ở những điều kiện xã hội bên lề như tuổi già, nay đã trở thành trải nghiệm thường nhật của đám đông ngày một lớn dần trong thế kỷ chúng ta."" Nỗi cô đơn không còn là một nỗi đau cá nhân, mà giờ đây trở thành chứng bệnh lây lan của thời hiện đại. Đặc biệt ở thời đại công nghệ số, ảo tưởng rằng chúng ta có thể kết nối với nhau từ mọi ngõ ngách trên toàn cầu, nghịch lý thay, lại tạo ra những cá nhân cô đơn và buồn bã hơn bao giờ hết.
Bị bỏ rơi vào giờ phút sinh tử, mất quê hương, kẹt trong chấn thương do bị tấn công tình dục nhưng không thể chia sẻ với ai, hay đơn thuần là không thể kết nối với ngay cả những người ruột thịt nhất của mình: đó là muôn mặt của nỗi cô đơn khi các cá nhân bị mất kết nối với các mối quan hệ gần nhất, bị đứt lìa khỏi cảm quan về một thế giới chung nay đã bị vỡ vụn.
Buổi tọa đàm sẽ đem lại các tiếng nói vô cùng đa dạng từ các nhà văn mà trong tác phẩm của họ các nhân vật đè nén mọi cảm xúc để cho những nỗi đau cá nhân gào thét trong câm lặng. Nhưng cũng chính trong những lớp sương mù dày đặc của những tổn thương đó, vẫn luôn le lói những khát khao được kết nối, được tái sinh.
Sự kiện này nằm trong khuôn khổ Những Ngày Văn Học Châu Âu, liên hoan văn học thường niên do Liên minh các Viện Văn hóa Quốc gia Châu Âu (EUNIC) tại Việt Nam tổ chức.

Giới thiệu diễn giả:
🔵 Sasha Marianna Salzmann sinh ra tại Volgograd, Nga, và di cư sang Đức cùng gia đình khi mười tuổi, nơi họ trở thành một trong những tiếng nói quan trọng nhất của sân khấu và văn học đương đại Đức. Họ theo học Sân khấu và Văn học tại Đại học Hildesheim và sau đó chuyên sâu về viết kịch tại Đại học Nghệ thuật Berlin. Các tác phẩm sân khấu của Salzmann được đánh giá cao trên trường quốc tế, nổi bật với cách xử lý độc đáo những chủ đề phổ quát như ký ức, căn tính và trải nghiệm di cư. Tác phẩm đã được dịch ra hơn hai mươi ngôn ngữ và được trao Giải Nghệ thuật Sân khấu của Akademie der Künste năm 2020 cùng Giải Văn học Kleist-Preis năm 2024. Cả hai tiểu thuyết - "Beside Myself" (2017) và "Glorious People" (2021) - đều được đề cử Giải Sách Đức và cùng nhận Giải Literaturhäuser và Giải Hermann-Hesse-Literaturpreis năm 2022. Sasha Salzmann còn cộng tác với nhiều cơ quan truyền thông Đức, giám tuyển các liên hoan văn hóa và là nhà văn thường trú lâu năm tại Nhà hát Maxim Gorki Berlin.
🔵 Rebecca Watson là tiểu thuyết gia người Anh. Tiểu thuyết đầu tay little scratch (2021) của cô được đề cử Giải Goldsmiths và Giải Desmond Elliott, đồng thời được chuyển thể thành vở kịch biểu diễn tại London. Tiểu thuyết thứ hai I Will Crash xuất bản năm 2024 nhận được nhiều lời khen từ giới phê bình và được đề cử Giải Dylan Thomas. Các tác phẩm phi hư cấu của Watson đã được đăng tải rộng rãi trên nhiều ấn phẩm uy tín như The Guardian, Granta và British Vogue. Năm 2022, cô thực hiện một bộ phim tài liệu cho đài BBC Radio 4, nơi các truyện ngắn của cô cũng đã được phát sóng. Hiện cô là biên tập viên phụ trách đặt bài và cây viết chuyên mục cho FT Weekend, sinh sống tại London. Phiên bản tiếng Việt của little scratch, với tựa đề Xước Xát, do San Hô Books phát hành.
🔵 Miku Sophie Kühmel sinh năm 1992 tại Gotha, Đức. Họ từng học một thời gian ngắn tại New York và sau đó học lâu hơn tại Berlin, nơi họ hiện đang sinh sống và làm việc. Sau khi có những tác phẩm đăng trên các tuyển tập và tạp chí văn học, tiểu thuyết đầu tay "Kintsugi" của Miku ra mắt năm 2019, mang về cho tác giả Giải Văn học Quỹ Jürgen Ponto 2019 và Giải Văn học aspekte 2019. Họ cũng được nhận học bổng của Alfred Döblin-Haus thuộc Akademie der Künste cùng nhiều học bổng sáng tác khác. Năm 2022, tiểu thuyết thứ hai "Triskele" ra mắt và được đề cử Giải Clemens-Brentano-Preis 2023. Sau khi xuất bản tuyển tập đầu tiên "Brüste" cùng Linus Giese, thực hiện các kỳ lưu trú sáng tác tại Reykjavík và Vienna, đồng thời dấn thân vào thế giới sân khấu qua dự án atelier "Fellwechsel" tại Deutsches Theater Berlin, Miku ra mắt tiểu thuyết mới nhất "Hannah" vào năm 2025. Tác phẩm nhận được những lời khen từ giới phê bình, trong đó tờ FAZ nhận xét: "Kühmel trả lại cho Hannah Höch một nửa cuộc đời của bà."
🔵 Peter Simon Altmann là nhà văn người Áo. Sinh năm 1968 tại Salzburg, ông theo học thần học và triết học tại quê nhà, sau đó tham gia nhiều dự án sản xuất sân khấu tại Salzburg và Vienna. Từ năm 1999, ông dành toàn bộ sự nghiệp cho việc viết văn. Ông đã thực hiện nhiều chuyến lưu trú sáng tác kéo dài tại Nhật Bản, Hàn Quốc và Trung Quốc, với sự hỗ trợ của các đại sứ quán Áo tại Tokyo, Seoul, Bắc Kinh và nhiều nơi khác. Altmann sáng tác ở nhiều thể loại khác nhau - tiểu thuyết, truyện ngắn, thơ và tiểu luận - và là thành viên của PEN Quốc tế Áo.

🔵 Quyên Nguyễn là tiến sĩ văn học Anh và là một nhà nghiên cứu và phê bình độc lập. Bà là dịch giả từ tiếng Anh sang tiếng Việt; các tác phẩm dịch đã xuất bản của bà bao gồm "Mình nói chuyện gì khi mình nói chuyện tình" của Raymond Carver (đồng dịch giả), "Chuộc tội" của Ian McEwan, "Middlesex" của Jeffrey Eugenides. Bà cũng là người đồng sáng lập trang web văn chương Zzz Review phi lợi nhuận ở Việt Nam.

The great German philosopher Hannah Arendt once observed: ""Loneliness, once a borderline experience usually suffered in certain marginal social conditions like old age, has become an everyday experience of the ever-growing masses of our century."" Loneliness is no longer merely a private agony; it has become an epidemic of the modern age. In the digital era, the illusion of borderless, global connectivity paradoxically breeds individuals who are more isolated and melancholic than ever before.
Abandonment in the face of death, the uprootedness of losing one's homeland, the unspoken trauma of sexual assault, or simply the inability to bond with one's closest kin: these are the myriad faces of loneliness. It arises when individuals are severed from intimate ties and alienated from a shared, now-shattered world, leaving them adrift in search of existential meaning.
This panel brings together a diverse chorus of writers whose characters repress their emotions, allowing their private agonies to scream in silence. Yet, even within the thick fog of such trauma, a profound yearning for connection and rebirth continues to flicker.

About the panelists:
🔵 Sasha Marianna Salzmann was born in Volgograd, Russia, and at the age of ten migrated to Germany with their family, where they have become one of the most relevant voices on the theatre and literary scene. They studied Theatre and Literature at the University of Hildesheim and later specialized in playwriting at the University of the Arts in Berlin. Their theatrical work, acclaimed internationally, stands out for its unique treatment of universal topics such as memory, identity or the migratory experience. It has been translated into more than twenty languages and awarded with Theatre Prize of the Academy of Arts 2020 and the Kleist-Preis literary prize in 2024. Both of their novels Beside Myself (2017) and Glorious people (2021) were nominated for the best German Book Prize and received the Literaturhäuser Prize and Hermann-Hesse-Literaturpreis in 2022. Sasha Salzmann also collaborates with various German media, curates festivals and has been a resident at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin.
🔵 Rebecca Watson (she/her) is a novelist. Her debut novel little scratch (2021) was shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize and the Desmond Elliott Prize and was adapted into a play in London. Her second novel I Will Crash was published in 2024 to critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize. Watson's non-fiction has been published widely, including in the Guardian, Granta and British Vogue. In 2022, she presented a documentary for Radio 4 — where her short stories have also aired. She is a commissioning editor and columnist for FT Weekend and lives in London. The Vietnamese edition of little scratch (XƯỚC XÁT) is published by Coral Books.
🔵 Miku Sophie Kühmel was born in Gotha, Germany in 1992. They studied briefly in New York and longer in Berlin, where they now live and work. After publications in anthologies and magazines, their debut novel "Kintsugi" was published in 2019, for which Miku was awarded the Jürgen Ponto Foundation Literature Prize 2019 and the "aspekte" Literature Prize 2019. They have received scholarships from the Alfred Döblin House of the Academy of Arts, among others. In 2022, their second novel "Triskele" was published, with which Miku was nominated for the Clemens Brentano Prize 2023. After publishing their first anthology „Brüste“ with Linus Giese, working in several residencies such as Reykjavík (with the Goethe Institute of Denmark) or Vienna and diving into the world of theatre with the Deutsches Theater atelier project „Fellwechsel“, Miku published their latest novel „Hannah“ in 2025. It was particularly well received in the press, or as FAZ put it: „Kühmel gives Hannah Höch back one half of her life."
🔵 Peter Simon Altmann is an Austrian author. Born in Salzburg Austria 1968, studied theology and philosophy. Collaboration in various theater productions in Salzburg and Vienna. Working as a writer since 1999. Several working stays in Japan, Korea and China, supported by the Austrian embassies in Tokyo, Seoul and Beijing and others. Altmann writes novels, short stories, poems and essays and is a member of PEN-International Austria.
About the moderator:
🔵 Quyen Nguyen is a Doctor of English literature and an independent researcher and critic. She holds a PhD in English literature from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore with a dissertation on James Joyce. Her research interests include literary theory, James Joyce, Irish literature, modernism, postmodernism, translation studies, and contemporary literature. Her works have been published by Palgrave Macmillan. Quyen Nguyen is also an English-Vietnamese translator with more than 14 years of experience; her published translations include "What we talk about when we talk about love" by Raymond Carver (co-translated), “Atonement” by Ian McEwan, “Middlesex” by Jeffrey Eugenides.
