...Innen, a Koppány-völgyből érkezik vendégségbe Törökkoppány a Déliparti piac – Szántódpuszta piacára március 28–29-én. Egy különleges sorozatban a belső somogyi településeit látjuk vendégül, hogy picivel beljebb haladva a parttól minél többen megismerhessék szépségüket és négyévszakos remek programlehetőségeiket, történelmi látványosságaikat. Most a Koppány-völgy szívéből, a Balatontól alig 45 percre fekvő Törökkoppány érkezik hozzánk.
A Somogy dombjai között megbúvó település különleges hangulatú hely. A templom kertjében ma is csobog az a víz, amelynek egykor a szultáni palotát is táplálta. Bárki ihat belőle. A forrás a közeli Törökkútból ered és eredeti agyagvezetékeken jut el a templomkertig.
A faluban nemrég látogatóközpontként újult meg a történelmi törökfürdő, amely digitális idegenvezetéssel mutatja be a feltárt romokat és a település múltját. A Koppány-völgy tája, a dombok és a rétek már önmagukban is kirándulásra csábítanak, az odavezető somogyi fennsík élménnyé teszi az utazást hozzájuk, de az igazi élményt az ott élők vendégszeretete adja.
Törökkoppány ma is őrzi Somogy Koppány-menti hagyományait:
👒 a különleges pillangós főkötős népviseletet,
🥚 a messze földön híres vésett tojásokat, azaz a tojáskarcolással készült egyedi népművészeti remekeket,
🎶 a kissé keleti - egzotikus hangzású somogyi népdalokat,
💃 és a látványos, ritmusos helyi néptáncokat.
Az, aki szerencsével jár arra, még törökkoppányi likas kalácsot is kóstolhat, vagy láthatja a helyiek különleges labdajátékát, a paprikázást, amelyet már néprajzi bemutatókon és külföldi kiállításokon is megcsodáltak.
Nem véletlen, hogy a település hangulata egyik legnagyobb írónkat is megihlete, hiszen a környék atmoszférája Fekete István híres regényét is inspirálta. Igen itt, játszódott le félig történelmi félig az idelátogató író képzeletében a koppányi aga testamentuma.

From this very Koppány Valley, Törökkoppány comes to visit the Déliparti Market – Szántódpuszta on March 28–29. In a special series, we invite villages from the inner regions of Somogy so that visitors to the Balaton shore can discover their beauty, year-round programs, and historical treasures. This time our guest is Törökkoppány, located in the heart of the Koppány Valley, about 45 minutes from Lake Balaton.
Hidden among the rolling hills of Somogy, the village has a truly unique atmosphere. In the garden of the church, water still flows today that once supplied the sultan’s palace. Anyone may drink from it. The spring originates from the nearby Törökkút (Turkish Well) and reaches the church garden through original clay pipes.
The historic Turkish bath in the village has recently been renovated into a visitor center, where digital guides introduce the excavated ruins and the history of the settlement. The landscapes of the Koppány Valley, with its hills and meadows, are already inviting enough for a trip, and the journey across the Somogy plateau is an experience in itself – but the true charm lies in the hospitality of the people who live there.
Törökkoppány still preserves the traditions of the Koppány region of Somogy:
👒 the unique “butterfly” headdress of the traditional local costume,
🥚 the far-famed carved eggs, delicate folk art pieces created with egg-scratching techniques,
🎶 the slightly eastern-sounding, exotic Somogy folk songs,
💃 and the lively, rhythmic local folk dances.
Those who are lucky may also taste the local specialty, the Törökkoppány “likas kalács”, or watch the unique traditional ball game called paprikázás, which has been presented at ethnographic events and exhibitions even abroad.
It is no coincidence that the atmosphere of the village inspired one of Hungary’s greatest writers. The landscape and spirit of the area gave life to István Fekete’s famous novel, The Testament of the Aga of Koppány, whose story unfolds here – partly from history, partly from the imagination of the writer who once visited this place.
