TWIN NOIR - „2 Punks and a Tape Machine“TWIN NOIR is a Post-Punk/Wave/EBM artist duo founded in Berlin in 2021, consisting of Cody Barcelona (voice, electronics, guitar) and Ian Volt (voice, bass). Their music oscillates between electronically monotonic sounds, expansive atmospheres, and melodic moments, combined with minimalist lyrics in German.
The sound of TWIN NOIR is shaped by an analog tape machine, a sampler, guitars and a theremin, through which the duo creates their own blend of Punk and Wave music. Technoid beats, driving basslines, and atmospheres played alternately by synthesizers and guitars create moments that invite dancing, floating and drifting. The influences of both artists range from bands like KRAFTWERK and DAF to the EBM and Techno scenes, as well as Punk and Rock from the 70s to 90s.
Live, TWIN NOIR impresses with energetic performances and danceable sound. Their show
is inspired by Berlin‘s club culture, Punk and Vaudeville, aiming to celebrate and manifest freedom, creativity and art. The duo began performing in Berlin in 2022 and has since played in 17 countries. TWIN NOIR toured across Europe, the United Kingdom, the Balkans and Mexico, where they recorded half of their debut album in Mexico City. Back in Europe, they completed the recordings at the „Portugal Recording Studio“ near Lisbon, where they also recorded their follow- up debut „2 Punks and a Tape Machine - Chapter //“ in summer 2024.
TWIN NOIR has achieved significant milestones, including having two of their songs presented by Iggy Pop on his BBC Radio 6 show „Iggy Confidential“. TWIN NOIR were listed by the European music initiative „Europelive“ as one of the „50 most promising European artists“ and have performed live in over 17 countries, including two of Europe‘s largest Wave/Punk festivals: „Wave Gothic Treffen“ in Germany and the „Extramuralhas Festival“ in Portugal.

Geprägt durch ihre musikalischen Einflüsse erschaffen Holger Meyer und Michael Gronau eine Welt zwischen Cold Wave, Dark Wave und Post Punk, verbunden mit ihrer ganz eigenen Handschrift und Kreativität, um das Innere nach außen zu tragen.
Englische Texte kombiniert mit sphärischen, melodiösen Gitarren und die prägende Stimme des Sängers erschaffen ein Bild von Sehnsucht, des sich Hingebens und Ankommens, des verloren Seins und des aufgefangen Werdens. Ankommen ist genau das richtige Stichwort. Im Jahre 1996 wurde die erste CD – LONG FORGOTTEN WORLD veröffentlicht.
2024 erblickt nach 14 Jahren mit SECOND LIFE wieder ein neuer Longplayer das Licht der Welt. 13 Songs mit insgesamt 60 Minuten Spielzeit ziehen die Hörerschaft in ihren Bann und nehmen sie mit auf eine Reise, die die Seele der beiden Künstler widerspiegelt und als eine Weiterführung der lang vergessenen Welt empfunden wird.
