The Woodlands High School Theater Department is excited to present the award-winning musical Once Upon A Mattress, featuring music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, and a book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer.In a kingdom ruled by a selfish monarch, it is prohibited to marry before the Queen's beloved son, Prince Dauntless, does. Although already of age, the Prince is eager to find his true love, but his mother refuses to allow it. Everything changes when an unconventional swamp princess named Winnifred the Woebegone arrives at the Palace. Frustrated, the Queen gives her a challenging task to determine her worthiness: she must sleep on top of a small pea hidden beneath 20 mattresses. If Winnifred awakens with body aches, she may have a chance with the Prince; however, if she wakes up feeling refreshed, she will fail. The fate of the kingdom now rests on whether Winnifred can feel the tiny pea.
Experience this hilarious retelling of The Princess and the Pea in The Woodlands High School Blackbox on January 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, and 24 at 7 pm, and on January 17 and 24 at 2 pm.
