About this Event
Fast fashion floods the market with cheaply made clothes that harm the environment, exploit workers (including kids), and generate massive waste—85% of these items end up in landfills or incinerators often after less than 10 wears. Swapping clothes is a fun, budget-friendly way to combat this waste and keep fashion in circulation.
Join us for an eco-friendly clothing swap designed for middle school girls! The event will begin with tips on how to be stylish and sustainable, and a fashion show.
Bring your gently used, clean clothing and accessories to trade, refresh your wardrobe, connect with friends, and support sustainability. Let’s swap styles and make a difference together!
Rules:
- Bring at least 3 and up to 10 items to swap, with the intention of taking home a similar number—this is about sharing, not just donating!
- All clothing must be clean, in good condition and stain-free.
- For each item you will receive 1 ticket that can be used to “purchase” an item of clothing on the day of the swap.
- Acceptable goods: Clothing, shoes, bags/purses, accessories (jewelry, hats, etc.) NOT acceptable goods: Underwear, swimwear, household items, books, toys.
- Bring your own shopping / tote bag - no bags will be supplied, but there will be a select number of upcycled or recycled bags for purchase.
- Adults are welcome but must be accompanied by or attending in support of a tween or teen participant.
Event hosted and organized by local middle school students.
