Directed by Amneris Morales and Iván Goris
Tuya siempre, Julita is a bold play by Roberto Ramos-Perea that explores the intimate relationship between two literary giants—Julia de Burgos and Luis Lloréns Torres—a subject long dismissed as rumores.
The play dives into themes of passion, artistic influence (and even accusations of “plagiarism”), while confronting the struggles women writers faced in a male-dominated cultural arena.
Julia de Burgos was a pioneering poet, social justice advocate, and foremother of the Nuyorican literary movement. Luis Lloréns Torres, meanwhile, was a celebrated poet, playwright, and politician who championed Puerto Rican independence. Their legacies, intertwined with both love and literary rivalry, still resonate today.
