Art-Making Activities

HELLO GORGEOUS:
MIXED MEDIA SELF-PORTRAITURE

With Lifelong Studio Alum: Michael “MONO” F Anaya

Explore self-portraiture, inspired by the exhibition . Participants will have the option to print a photograph of themselves from their phone on-site, which can be used to create a mixed-media portrait. There will also be mirrors available for those who prefer to draw from life for their self-portrait. Various collage materials will also be available to complete their self-portrait.

MASK-MAKING

With Lifelong Studio Alum: Sigfrido Benitez

Masks are created across cultures and can represent spirits, animals, or ancestors, and their styles vary significantly based on diverse functions, religious rituals, and social traditions.

In this activity, participants are encouraged to think about their own cultures and their identity to create their own mask. Using an array of mixed media, collage, imagery, colors, designs, and textures, participants can represent how they appear to others or symbolize the parts of themselves that they might keep hidden from others.
