Internationally celebrated pianist Yoshio Hamano brings his profound musicality and award-winning artistry to the stage for this exciting installment of the 2025–2026 Tutunov Piano Series.
Born in Tokyo, Hamano has captivated audiences across the globe with performances in some of the world’s most prestigious venues. Known for his deep emotional connection to the music, his expressive style continues to move listeners and earn critical acclaim.
A first prize winner of the Music Competition of Japan, a laureate of the Nordic Piano Competition, and the Almaty International Piano Competition, Hamano has performed with major orchestras including the Japan Philharmonic and Tokyo Symphony. He currently teaches at both the Tokyo College of Music and Tokyo University of the Arts.

Yoshio Hamano

Yoshio Hamano has had the privilege to study with distinguished artists of our times: Eliso Virsaladze, the late Elena Ashkenazy, Dmitri Alexeev, Gerald Fauth, and Dr. Nikita Fitenko. He completed his Master of Performance and Artist Diploma in 2015 at the Royal College of Music London, and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2012 from Tokyo University of the Arts, where he studied with Dr. Atsuko Okada.
Hamano has been a laureate of numerous international piano competitions, including the Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö, Almaty International Piano Competition, International Russian Music Piano Competition, and Minoru Nojima Yokosuka Piano Competition. His first prize win at the 2011 Music Competition of Japan aided in achieving recognition as a prominent recital artist.
With a dual Japanese-Russian background, Hamano has devoted his passion for music to facilitating dialogue between cultures through the arts. His recitals and collaborative projects have taken him to venues across Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom (including Royal Festival Hall and Purcell Room), Germany, Scandinavia, Russia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
He has performed extensively as a soloist with orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the Japan Philharmonic at Suntory Hall (Tokyo), the Tokyo Symphony, Central Aichi Symphony, Geidai Philharmonia, and Lund City Orchestra. He has worked with distinguished conductors such as Alexander Lazarev, David Geringas, Kazuki Yamada, Naoto Otomo, and Masahiko Enkoji.
Yoshio Hamano currently holds teaching positions at Tokyo College of Music and Tokyo University of the Arts. He is represented by Pacific Concert Management, Inc.
