In orchestral music, "tutti" is the moment when the full force of an ensemble fills a hall, and the sound doesn’t just reach you, it reverberates through you.On Sunday, 26 April at 15:00, the Pretoria Symphony Orchestra opens its stage to the next generation of South African musicians.
In collaboration with the FAK Jeugsimfonieorkes, the PSO invites young instrumentalists, some as young as 12 years old, to step into that moment alongside musicians who have spent a lifetime in performance.
From 12 to 80, every voice counts. Every part matters.
Under the baton of Jaco van Staden, both orchestras unite at UNISA’s ZK Matthews Hall for a programme as varied as the musicians performing it.
Bruch’s soaring first movement of his Violin Concerto No. 1, Op. 26, performed by soloist Meldt van der Spuy, fills the hall with Romantic sweep and lyricism.
Lyadov’s 8 Russian Folk Songs, Op. 58 shimmer with colour and folklore. Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 crackles with wit and energy.
And there is more still to be revealed — something truly for everyone.
