April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Throughout the month, we raise awareness about sexual and gender-based violence through education, prevention, and support for survivors.

This year’s theme for Sexual Assault Awareness Month is “Looking Back, Moving Forward.” Looking back, violence has often been dismissed as ‘just normal’, leaving survivors ignored and unsupported. Moving forward, we must believe survivors, choose compassion over cruelty, and stand together to create lasting change for safer communities.

· Wear teal on April 1st to show your support for survivors of sexual assault. Wearing teal helps spark conversations and raise awareness for prevention and healing.

· Pledge to start by believing any survivor who shares their experience with you. Your belief and support make a difference.
