About this Event
Located in a rare 1799 stone carriage house on Manhattan's Upper East Side, the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden invites photographers and history enthusiasts to an exclusive "Slow-Photography" walk. This curated experience is designed to highlight the authentic textures of our Federal-period interiors and the peak bloom of our 19th-century style walled garden, which was the recipient of a 2025 Garden Club of America Zone Historic Preservation Commendation for Zone III.
Whether you are an architectural photographer, a floral enthusiast, or a local New Yorker looking for a "hidden gem" perspective, this small-group session (limited to 12) offers the quietude needed to capture the perfect shot.
What to Expect:
- The Interior: Access to our period rooms featuring authentic 1820s woodwork, period appropriate furnishings, and historic stonework.
- The Garden: Private time in our colonial-style garden during the height of tulip season.
- The Atmosphere: A "natural light only" session, perfect for capturing the moody, historic ambiance of old New York.
Important Preservation Guidelines:
To ensure the stewardship of our 200-year-old landmark, we ask all guests to adhere to the following professional standards:
- Inside the Museum: Handheld photography only. Tripods, monopods, and external flash/LED lighting are not permitted indoors to protect our original flooring and delicate collection.
- In the Garden: Tripods are welcome but must remain on the gravel or stone paths. Please do not step into the flower beds.
- Horticulture: In accordance with arboretum standards, please do not spray or mist the plants.
Event will be held rain or shine.
