Nuno Wet Felting: Tulips on SilkWith April Cox of Tupelo Acres
Learn the basics of nuno wet felting, a fiber art technique where wool fibers are felted directly into a lightweight fabric—most often silk—to create soft, textured, and wearable or wall-ready pieces. In this workshop, you’ll layer wool over silk and use water, soap, and movement to bond the fibers together, watching your design come to life through color and texture. You’ll create an 8×10 tulips piece on silk, perfect as a small artwork or experiment in fiber “painting.” This class is beginner-friendly, playful, and a great introduction to working with fiber in a hands-on, low-pressure way.
April Cox has been on a vibrant journey into the world of fiber arts since 2011, where creativity knows no bounds. What began as a novice farming venture quickly blossomed into a deep passion for felting—both wet and needle felting—allowing her to transform simple fibers into intricate works of art.
Over the years, April has expanded her skill set to include spinning, dyeing, and crocheting, with each new technique opening up fresh creative possibilities. Her appreciation for all types of fiber continues to grow as she explores the unique textures and properties each one offers.
While she no longer farms, sharing her love of fiber arts remains one of April’s greatest joys. Whether teaching workshops or guiding a friend through the basics of a new craft, she finds inspiration in connecting with others and sparking their creativity. Every piece she creates tells a story, and she’s excited to share this beautiful journey with others.
