The Canadian Sea Turtle Network has run a Sea Turtle Patrol each fall since 2016. The program asks volunteers in Atlantic Canada to walk a stretch of coastline of their choosing, once a week, in search of cold stunned sea turtles. This past season saw the successful rehabilitation of our first Kemp's Ridley sea turtle, the most endangered species of sea turtle in the world. Join us to learn about the sea turtles we find in Canadian waters, how and why they become cold stunned, and what you should do if you find a cold stunned sea turtle. We will also introduce you to Lucky and walk you through her rehabilitation.April Nason, BSc, DDS, MAEd, is the Educational and Outreach Coordinator for the Canadian Sea Turtle Network, a charitable organization based in Halifax. She grew up in Saint John, NB and has been interested in turtles since the age of six. She has been involved with the Canadian Sea Turtle Network in varying capacities for 16 years.
