Let's gather in community to harmonize ourselves with the lessons of Tu Bishvat.
Sunday, February 9th from 4-6pm
Beit Yichud, 6932 N. Glenwood, Chicago
RSVP by emailing [email protected]
In this offering, Leah Shoshanah will guide participants through circle songs from the Jewish lineage and also other spiritual lineages. We will travel on a Kabbalistic "Seder of Songs" as we explore and integrate the mystical wisdom of Tu Bishvat into our lives.
All are welcome at this event, from the "non-musician" to the "seasoned professional". Those who identify as Jewish as well as those who don't are all invited. The spiritual technology of the Jewish Wheel of Time is useful for all!
Things to keep in mind:
*This is a small space, so please RSVP so that we know there will be space for everyone
*Masking is optional-- we encourage taking a COVID test before arriving
*You are welcome to bring fruits and nuts to share. It is traditional to eat fruits on Tu Bishvat. There is also a custom to try a new fruit!
*This program is offered in exchange for donation. Leah would love to receive $20-$40 from each participant in order to support her ability to continue her Rabbinic training. $10 is great, too! If that is too much, that's ok! She wants you to come anyway. She trusts in the universe that she will receive what she needs if she continues to offer what resonates with her soul (which is why she is offering this program).
We look forward to singing with you!

ABOUT LEAH:
Leah Shoshanah is a singer, songwriter, Cantorial Soloist, ritualist, composer and facilitator born, raised and currently living in the traditional homeland of the Potawatomi (Chicago).
Leah has been writing songs since 2011 and started singing long before that. The creative practice of singing and songwriting has helped her to overcome mental and physical health struggles. For Leah, songwriting reveals truth and embodies understanding.
Leah’s spiritual practice is deeply rooted in Judaism, visual art, yoga, mindfulness meditation and facilitating ritual. In 2012, she began to serve the Jewish community as a Cantorial Soloist and Ritualist. Leah utilizes her creative skill to bring Jewish prayer into context with the unique times we are living in. As part of this work, she writes original compositions that weave English midrash through liturgy, adapts cantorial works for folk ensembles and re-imagines historical Jewish music from around the world.
Because humans were made in the divine image of a creative G!d, creative practice is holy and important work. Leah guides others in creative practice by leading song circles, vocal technique and improvisation workshops. She also teaches song-writing, voice and guitar.
Leah records music, plays concerts and tours with her many musical projects. Her latest single, Lecha Dodi (Come, my Beloved), condenses all 9 stanzas of the piyyut into a reggae-influenced song with English and Hebrew lyrics for group singing. This year, Leah’s focus is on ancestry through stories and songs. She is currently gathering first person accounts and exploring Jewish music from Eastern Europe, Adalusia and Northern Africa.
