We welcome you to join us for Truth Talk: Genocide in the Wildflower State Documentary Screening & Panel.Multi-award winning film Genocide in the Wildflower State is a thoughtful and revealing truth telling documentary covering the violent, state-run system of eugenics, racial absorption and social assimilation rampant in Western Australia in the twentieth century. For over six decades between 1905 and 1972 First Nations children in Western Australia were forcibly removed from their families by the Western Australian government. This has now been called for what it was 'Genocide', in a 1997 National Inquiry.
The documentary provides Stolen Generation Survivors' testimony of the systematic abuse of power seen in the Australian government, outlining experience of abuse, humiliation and demands for justice. We will be joined by a diverse panel of experts following the film to discuss and debrief its vast impacts as well as how its contents can help guide us as healthcare practitioners.
Panel guests: Professor Fiona Stanley, Dr Daniel Hunt & more TBA
