There is a genuine, unforced energy that comes when two people find their sound early. For Sunderland duo Trivia, that sound is a loud, melodic, and gritty take on rock’n’roll that feels both classic and completely fresh. Since solidifying their lineup nine months ago, the duo has moved rapidly from bedroom rehearsals to the city's most iconic stages.
Comprising Hannah Hays (14, vocals/guitar) and Lydia Stubbs (15, drums), Trivia operate with a natural chemistry that's rare to find. Hannah’s melodic vocals carry a healthy dose of attitude, grounded by a guitar sound that’s surprisingly thick for a two-piece, while Lydia’s drumming provides the steady, driving heartbeat of the band. While their ages often draw initial curiosity, it’s their songwriting—mature, sharp, and far beyond their years—that keeps people in the room.
The band’s reputation has been built on the stage, not just in the practice room. Having already cut their teeth at Marapalooza and Ripples Festival, they’ve proven they can command a festival crowd as naturally as a local club. Their growth has been mentored by the scene they love, sharing stages with established names like Tear Jerker, Red London, Slalom D, Critch, and Red Remedy. Rather than being a "novelty," Trivia have earned their place through hard work and a fearless approach to live performance.
In an era of overly polished pop, Trivia offer something raw and honest. They aren't looking for special treatment or a "pat on the head" for being young—they just want to play. They are punk in its purest form: two friends, a massive sound, and the songs to back it up.
The Ship Isis. Home to The Vaux Room, an intimate live venue in one of Sunderland's oldest pubs.
The venue is situated on the edge of the city centre and is within a 15-minute walk from both bus and train stations, with a flat level car park directly behind the venue.
On show days, ticket holders can enjoy 20% off food and drinks at local business’ Koji and Mexico 70. We recommend booking the restaurants on weekends.
