About this Event
Trio Contique: Solstice Concert
Join Trio Contique for their debut concert, a luminous program celebrating light on the brightest day of the year. As we enter into summer, this performance explores radiance, seasons, and transformation through music that shimmers across time.
The program features works by Sungji Hong, Caroline Shaw, Andrew Smith, and David Lang, alongside folk songs that echo ancient traditions of song and storytelling.
Trio Contique is a Portland-based vocal ensemble born from friendship and a shared love of music that lives at the edges of time. The trio—mezzo-soprano Sarah Beaty, soprano Henriët Fourie, and soprano Vakarė Petroliūnaitė—brings together distinct artistic voices in a collaborative exploration of sound.
Their name, Contique, fuses antique and contemporary, reflecting a repertoire that moves fluidly between early music, folk traditions, and new works. With an ear toward both intimacy and resonance, Trio Contique creates performances that invite deep listening and connection—across time, between performers, and with their audience.
