About this Event
International young musicians Salome Jordania, (piano), Vasco Ferrão (cello) and Malena Benavent-Gimeno (violin), from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, perform a contrasting programme comprising works of Mendelssohn and Shostakovich. Both of whom take us through sparkling emotional journeys, using music to illustrate imaginary landscapes.
Having lived in different time periods and divergent social-political climates, each of the composers uses various musical techniques to reflect on their individual life perspectives.
The programme:
Mendelssohn Piano Trio No.1 in D Minor, Op.49.
I.Molto allegro e agitato.
II.Andante con moto tranquillo.
III.Scherzo. Leggiero e vivace.
IV.Finale. Allegro assai appassionato
Shostakovich Piano Trio No.2 in E minor. Op.67.
I.Andante – Moderato
II.Allegro con brio
III.Largo
IV.Allegretto – Adagio
Doors open: 12.50pm
