Acclaimed Bay Area singers Margaret Belton, Meredith Edgar, and Jill Rogers join in a reimagining of the haunting, poetic songs of Gillian Welch, with rich three-part harmonies and full-band arrangements.Meredith Edgar, a San Francisco-born singer-songwriter, brings her dark-hued, cinematic tone—sharp and smoky, haunting and melancholic. Described as having a voice that “sounds like she stepped out of the starring singer role in a David Lynch movie,” Edgar’s sound blends Americana with noir. Jill Rogers, well-known for fronting Oakland’s esteemed honky-tonk band Crying Time, channels a deep well of country, soul, and folk. She’s no stranger to songs of love and loss, delivering them with emotional clarity. Freight audiences know Margaret Belton for her acclaimed annual tribute to Patsy Cline. Margaret brings her innate warmth and theatrical presence to this performance. The blend of their individual voices is divine.
They’ll be backed by The Trillianaires - an exceptional band featuring Jamie Duncan (Jamie Duncan Quartet, Joe Rut and the Sunshine Shovelers) and Myles Boisen (Angela LaFlamme, Orchestra Nostalgico, Miniwatt String Trio) on guitars and Russell Kiel (Ruby Lee Hill, Joe Rut and the Sunshine Shovelers) on bass, with Steve Pearson (Laura Benitez and the Heartache, Kate Burkhart Band) on drums.
