TRIBAL SLEEPOVER 2024THE SILK ROAD: CONNECTING PEOPLE AND CULTURES

You’ll stay in the splender of the house in one of the dorms, dine in the Grand hall and take workshops in its historical rooms.
The theme for Tribal Sleepover 14 is “The Silk Road”, an historical route from China through to Europe.
The Silk Road was a network of mostly land but also sea trading routes, which stretched from China to Korea and Japan in the east, and connected China through Central Asia to India in the south and to Turkey and Italy in the west.
The Silk Road routes had a lasting impact on commerce, culture and that history still resonates today. For millennia, highly valued goods, musical instruments, dance and music travelled these routes.
So therefore "The Silk Road" is a metaphor for cultural and creative exchange between the tremendously diverse peoples and cultures of the route.
This Nomadic route has deep roots in the dance and music we perform today
On the Friday night we have planned our fabulous FANCY DRESS PARADE, so be ready to get your Silk Road themed costume on and surprise everyone! You’ll have plenty of inspiration to choose from.
The Friday evening HAFLA will be your opportunity to share something with everyone in a warm, supportive environment. After which we will dance the night away at our infamous DISCO with a playlist compiled by DJ C ( Cinzia ).
This year on the Saturday Night we are intending on organising a mini show themed around “The Silk Road, made up of show backs from the Saturday workshops and teachers’ performances. More details will follow.
We are also hoping come up with some live music by yours truly The Nomads and some special guests.
We have two streams of Dance workshop running at the same time, alongside a craft/Holistic and drumming/music workshop, so you will have plenty to choose from.

There will be plenty of cake and chocolate available throughout the weekend as usual, DIRECT FROM ITALY.
The price of the event has had to be increased, due to the increasing costs of the venue.
2024 fees are for Standard dormitory room £300. Singles £350 (limited), doubles £320 (limited) and triples £315 (limited)
The price includes all workshops, accommodation, and meals. All you have to do is bring yourselves, your costumes and your favourite tipple.
A non-refundable deposit of £75 is required to secure your place.
We will then ask for further payment of £75 in May/June, £75 in August/September and the final payment at the beginning of November depending on the type of room you have chosen
