★DESCRIPTIONS:
*PERFORMANCE INTENSIVES (Int/Adv Level; max 8 person each)
The project consists of 5 phases:
1. Studying the choreography by video tutorials, sent almost two months in advance. You will have to film yourself, upload on your youtube channel as a private video and post the link of your video in the dedicated choreography fb group where everyone will get personal feedbacks directly from the choreographer. In the group you will be connected with the teacher, the organiser and with the other participants for any logistics, costume recommendations and to start to build the synergy of the group.
2. Then 5 hours of practicing, drilling, cleaning and working to build the
whole dance.
3. In theatre, the day before the show, 3 hours of staging with all groups.
4. The day of the show 4 hours of rehearsal on stage.
5. Performing together with the choreographers and the TFE artists in the ODYSSEY PROJECT SHOW!
*SCYLLA* - Performance Intensive with Violet Scrap
Scylla, transformed out of jealousy into a sea monster with tentacled legs and multiple heads, is a beautiful nymph trapped in a body of anger, who takes revenge by devouring creatures and human beings, tormenting Odysseus' passage through the Strait of Messina. Legend has it that she was transformed into a monster by the sorceress Circe, who poured an evil potion instead of a love potion into the waters in which she bathed; since then Scylla hid out of shame in a cave on the coast of Calabria, showing herself only to involve anyone who dared to approach her in her torment.
The work of this performance track will be focused on the study of group movement: fluidity and distortion of the body will be the main tools used. Great attention will be given to theatricality and synchrony, prioritizing connection and cohesion in the group. The level of technical experience is not relevant, but absolute willingness to listen to others and the desire to explore the linguistic limits of dance is required.

*ODYSSEUS AND THE ACHAEAN HEROES* - Performance Intensive with Antonella Sciahina
Odysseus and his valiant companions want to return home after ten years spent at war, but the hatred of an adverse god, Poseidon, prevents them from doing so. As many ten will pass at the mercy of incredible vicissitudes, facing dangers, accidents and monstrous creatures, but above all fighting furious winds, continuous shipwrecks and dangerous landings in unknown lands.
The intensive performance will see you in the shoes of Odysseus and the Achaean heroes, who, determined and fearless, face the adventures of their long journey. They are expert sailors, courageous and united but in the face of the fury of the divine their strength will be put to the test and their humanity will come out.
Not only technique and formations with great visual impact, in this intensive performance, we will work in particular on the duality of the concepts of strength and fragility, opposite sides of the same coin, and we will dance the storm. Prepare to be swept away by the fury of the god Poseidon, to resist the persuasive song of the dangerous mermaids and to be transformed in animals by the sorceress Circe… Prepare for the adventure you will never forget!

*TIMELESS CIRCE* - Performance Intensive with Julieta Maffia
Circe is a beautiful sorceress who has the power to transform men into animals through magical potions. With her charm she will enchant Odysseus and his companions who will be transformed and held on her island for a long time.
This performance project is about becoming a Powerful Sorcerer. It's a dance about this journey throught struggle, growth and recognicing the power and strenght within us. In this dance, you’ll learn about creating dramatic contrasts between Sharp & Electric versus Snakey & Sinous movement. Musicality will be a very powerful element of the Dance.
Growth implies a lot of unusual journeys inside ourselves, so unsual combinations & group formations are a significant part of the dance.
The Aesthetic of the Dance is Futuristic & Retro at the same time. It's pop, histrionic, and disruptive.

*MERMAIDS* - Performance Intensive with Kira Lebedeva
Mermaids are sea singers who live on an island and through their melodious singing exercise a deadly spell on men, causing the sailors who carelessly landed there to die.
No one can even imagine how many sailors they put on the bottom of the sea. No one has ever been able to escape their beauty. But the Mermaids are innocent of their fate; they were bewitched and doomed to live on the island. Each of the girls dreams of leaving the island and finding love.
Our goddesses believe and hope that their spells will end and they will be able to find fortune.
With this project, for the first time, we will tell the audience a story about the life of mermaids, about their hopes and feelings, about support within the tribe. After all, they can only trust each other.
This dance is about feminine strength that has not yet lost hope of salvation, even in the most difficult situation.
For the performance we will use folk motifs to show the strength and spirit of women who are fighting their spell.

*LIQUID FUSION TECHNIQUE MINI-INTENSIVE* (Open Level; max 20 students) with Melli Sarina:
Get a little insight of Melli's Liquid Fusion Dance Intensive to deepen your liquid flow and explore new ways to wave inside the body. During Intensive we will focus on liquid arms technique, specific isolation exercises that will help make your body move smoother and of course her favorite liquid combos. Lets flow together!

*WORKSHOPS* (Open Level; max 25 students)
• WS1: *Maluma and Takete* with Violet Scrap:
What is a line in space and how does it talk? This class is a study on the difference of curved lines (Maluma) and broken ones (Takete) and how we can deepen the knowledge of movement or dissolve it starting from a duality and going beyond it.
Date and Time: 28th 11am-1pm
• WS2: *Tell me a story* with Antonella Sciahina:
As dancers we speak and comunicate with our hands and arms and we use them to tell emotions, textures, stories. Together with our face, they are the most expressive part of our body. In this workshop we will see multiple techniques to use our arms and hands inspired by asian, middle-eastern and western dances and we will explore different ways to use them to draw creative pathways to add to belly dance moves. You will learn some powerful Scianto Style fusion belly dance combos with a combination of musicality, dynamics, tricky layerings, a precise isolations technique and an original vocabulary. Be prepared to be challenged, be prepared to have fun!

• WS3: *Waterfall Techniques* with Kira Lebedeva:
This is Kira's fave technique. It looks amazing on the stage. This is a combination of softness and muscular contractions, stops and bumps. Free flow of a movement all over your body reminds of waterfalls and mountain rivers. Fluidity and softness, the magic of these movements mesmerize spectators.

• WS4: *The magic in between* with Julieta Maffia:
This is a two part workshop. The first part we will learn a specific combination. We’ll practice textures, energy, breathing, gaze. The Goal is to practice movements like we were already on stage, which is very different to ordinary drilling.
The second part we will learn Specifics Skills for a compelling and interesting performance. There’s a lot of details to pay attention to and in this class we’ll learn how to train them. It’s not about faking it, it’s about embodying the story you want to tell.

↠ ODYSSEY PROJECT SHOW and TFE GALA will be held on the 27th of April in the same night, in the 7 OFF THEATRE .The SHOW will be a theatrical fusion belly dance production about the Odyssey: the story of Odysseus's trip and his adventures; the GALA will present performances from the festival’s teachers and guests representing the belly dance international scene.
