About this Event
TRESOR make your own jewellery workshop: hand cut copper leaf pendant, earrings or hanging decoration
Join Donna Burns, a Cornish jeweller who loves working with copper almost as much as silver, on this introduction to hand sawing (piercing) metal.Try a first taste of piercing with a jeweller’s hand saw, to cut a shape from a piece of sheet metal - a fundamental jewellery skill. Then try your hand at filing and hammering, to finish and texture your copper shape. Donna is experienced with beginners and will guide you through using the tools safely. You can choose to make a beautiful copper leaf pendant hung on leather or natural cord, a pair of dangly earrings with silver ear wires or a timeless hanging decoration for a wall or tree. You can also choose to saw out a different shape, if leaves are not your favourite things, such as a geometric shape or a bat - it will be the Halloween weekend :) .Everyone should leave the workshop with a finished item to wear, hang or give as a gift. This workshop is perfect for beginners and young people - no experience needed. Young people between 11-16 years will need an accompanying adult, the adult can be actively participating in the workshop or just supervising (no ticket required).
