About this Event
TRESOR make your own jewellery workshop: copper riveted strips cuff bangle.
Join small metal crafts educator and jeweller, Tasha Scannell, to make a contemporary riveted copper cuff.
Choose your eight pre-patterned strips to create your own design. Will you fix them in parallel lines or create a random criss-cross? Then get busy with the hammers to fix your strips in place by riveting a form fixing metals together referred to as a cold-connection. You will then form your cuff shape using traditional jewellery making tools. To finish you may choose to add a patina to give the cuff an aged look, or buff the metal to a high shine.
You will learn some of the fundamental skills used in various types of metal work including riveting and forming. You will take home your truly unique copper cuff to wear or gift as you please.
This workshop will last approximately 1.5-2 hours and costs £20 per person, with a discounted rate of £35 for two people.
This workshop is suitable for 14+ and requires the ability to use hand held tools.
Tasha Scanell: "I teach all kinds of small metal crafting - jewellery, trinkets and little treasures to spark wonder, joy and creativity. I'm all about the process of making, learning new things and practising skills...the end product is just a lovely addition to the journey. I teach for Truro-Penwith College at their Penwith campus and in my own fully equipped workshop in Hayle. I love all things metal, but get extra excited when it comes to casting. I love the alchemy and magic of the changing state of the material and how each metal behaves a little differently"
