You will be exploring the rails, trails, trees and tales, and the urban fabric that stitches them together along America’s most transformative urban redevelopmentAbout the Tour Guide: Jeff Keesee is a nearly native Atlantan, moving here from Oregon to attend Ga Tech and still living within 1 1/2 miles of campus! His love of trees started while teaching nature merit badges at Boy Scout camp, really took off when volunteering with TA leading up to the Atlanta Olympics in the 90’s, and continues today with docent tours and the occasional tree planting.
About the Atlanta Beltline Arboretum: The Atlanta Beltline Arboretum currently has 9,000 accessioned plants in its collection, with 369 unique tree and shrub species and cultivars. Eighty-eight genera of trees and shrubs are represented and identified with permanent signage. Additionally, over 500,000 non-accessioned live grasses, vines, and wildflowers have been planted within the Arboretum since 2013, along with 1,600 pounds of seeds of native plants sown in the meadow spaces.
