Thank you for helping with the Kalkaska Conservation District Tree Sale! We rely on volunteers to help make this event run smoothly, and we appreciate any time you are able to give.
Volunteers are to meet us at the Kalkaska County Road Commission (1049 Island Lake Rd, Kalkaska, MI 49646) for their assigned shift.
TREE PACKING
-Dates: April 21–22
-Volunteer shifts: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM OR 1:00 PM–3:00 PM *You are welcome to sign up for as many shifts as you are willing and able to work.
-Volunteer duties: Volunteers will help prepare tree orders by counting and sorting nursery seedling bundles into smaller bundles of 5, 10, or 25 trees. Seedlings are small, so heavy lifting is not required.
-What to expect: This work is hands-on and can be messy. Volunteers should be comfortable getting dirty and standing on concrete floors for the duration of their shift.
TREE SALE PICKUP
-Date: April 24-25
-Volunteer shifts: April 24: 11:45 AM–2:30 PM OR 2:15 PM–5:00 PM | April 25: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM *You are welcome to sign up for as many shifts as you are willing and able to work. Customer pickup on April 24 runs until 6:00 PM. Volunteers may stay through 6:00 PM if available, though the final hour is typically slower.
-Volunteer duties: Volunteers will assist during customer pickup by greeting customers, checking orders for accuracy, locating orders in the lineup, and bringing them to customers.
-What to expect: This role requires walking, lifting and carrying tree orders, getting dirty, and standing on concrete floors for the duration of the shift. Seedlings are small, so heavy lifting is not required.
What to wear:
Please wear clothes and shoes that you do not mind getting dirty. Dress warmly and in layers. We will be working in the Road Commission garage, which is heated, but concrete floors can still make it feel chilly depending on the weather.
Food:
Lunch will be provided for volunteers. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions.
