The Lincoln City Cultural Center invites you to its annual Tree Lighting Party on Friday, Nov. 28, the day after Thanksgiving. The festivities will kick off at 2pm with the popular Make-n-Take Ornament Workshop, led by LCCC Art Director Krista Eddy in the Underground Art Lab. Enjoy delightful caroling from the Sweet Adelines at 4:30 pm, followed by the Tree Lighting Countdown at 5pm. Santa is scheduled to arrive right after our tree is illuminated (at around 5:15 pm) and will stay until every wish is heard!
Complimentary cookies and hot chocolate will be available after 4:30pm, thanks to event sponsor Kenny’s IGA. This is a free public event; all are welcome and encouraged to come celebrate, sing, and help us decorate the tree. Encircling the Christmas tree for the first time this year, will be the new Lincoln City Cosmography. This magnificent piece of artwork is made of thousands of tiles that were meticulously pieced together into a giant mandala design with 64 circles each depicting a different element of life from the Oregon coast. If you haven’t seen this lithomosaic in person, you need to stop by the next time you drive by the LCCC.
This year’s community tree was selected, donated, transported and installed by the good folks at Weyerhaeuser. This is the 2nd year in a row that Weyerhaeuser’s helped with all the steps in securing a tree for the city. It will be decorated by the Cultural Center’s Arts Director, Krista Eddy, along with staff, volunteers and members of the community.
This event is made possible by the Morgan Family of Kenny’s IGA, who will be providing the festive holiday cookies, and Joe Speer, our most important volunteer. The tree will be illuminated every evening through the month of December, in front of the historic Delake School entrance at the Cultural Center. For more information or to volunteer, contact Operations Director Judy Hardy at 541-994-9994.
