Treatment of Non-Compressible Hemorrhage with External Pressure
Class Description: Discussion of non-compressible hemorrhage (junctional bleeding, pelvic bleeding and abdominal bleeding) and techniques related to treating in the pre-hospital space. The class covers physical techniques, improvised interventions and commercially available interventions as well as interventions in development. Presentation also involves pictures and video from real cases in the US and some cases from Ukraine.
Presenter: John Croushorn MD, FACEP
Bio:
Dr. John Croushorn is a residency-trained, board certified emergency medicine physician and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is an associate professor of Emergency Medicine, Medical College of Georgia. He served as command surgeon of Task Force 185, Army Combat Aviation, in Iraq in 2004. He has served with US Army and FBI Special Operations. He serves as an Emergency Medicine physician and medical director in the EMS community in the Birmingham, AL area. Dr. Croushorn is an inventor and innovator having been awarded 5 patents through his research in hemorrhage control.
