Trauma Informed Practice Workshop

Duration: 3 hours

This 3-hour workshop offers an introduction to trauma-informed approaches. Exploring what trauma is, the different types, and how it affects the brain, body, and behaviour. The session will cover common symptoms of trauma and provide an overview of key trauma-informed principles, including safety, trust, choice, and empowerment.

Attendees will gain practical skills and strategies to create safe environments and respond sensitively to those affected by trauma. The workshop also emphasises the importance of self-care, supporting participants to maintain their own wellbeing while working with others.

By the end of the session, participants will gain an understanding of how to apply trauma-informed approaches in their roles.

About the Trainer

Clare Boardman - Counsellor and Supervisor

Clare is a BACP-registered counsellor with over 13 years of experience in practice. Clare has undertaken further training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, couples counselling, and children and young people’s counselling, alongside specialist training in trauma and attachment with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute.

Clare is also a registered Advanced Restorative Practitioner.

Throughout her work, Clare has supported individuals who have experienced a range of traumatic events, including complex and developmental trauma, by offering a safe, consistent, and compassionate therapeutic space. My approach is grounded in trauma-informed principles, with a focus on safety, collaboration, and working at a pace that feels manageable for each individual.

Alongside my counselling practice, I am also a qualified clinical supervisor, supporting practitioners to work ethically and reflectively—particularly when working with trauma. I am passionate about helping professionals feel more confident and resourced in their work, while also maintaining their own wellbeing.
