The experience of trauma can have a ripple effect throughout a person’s lifetime. It can influence the way they think, work, form relationships and the choices they make – years after the traumatic incident.Experts increasingly suggest that a majority of adult clients of mental health services are people affected by unresolved (and usually unrecognised) childhood trauma.
Adult mental health symptoms may be indicative of someone who never fully psychologically developed beyond the age they first experienced trauma.
